Al Qaeda in Iran

The Iranian government supports Al Qaeda?? Are you kidding me?? All this time I thought it didn't make sense. It still doesn't make sense, but apparently it is so. This will undoubtedly (hopefully) cause more Iraqi Shia, especially the ones in government, to not trust the Iranian government.

"A State Department cable released by WikiLeaks earlier this week contains a stunning new detail about the relationship between Iran and al Qaeda. The Saudis have privately complained to the Obama administration that Iran harbors a dangerous network of al Qaeda operatives who are targeting the kingdom. And at the heart of the relationship is one of Osama bin Laden’s little-known sons."

This doesn't surprise me.

Back when Al Qaida was slipping into Iraq through Syria, I just figured Asswad was doing what his father always did. Asswad Sr. somehow managed to get in bed with every mideast terror organization.

But, Iran and Syria are the bestest butt buddies. Asswad takes orders from Tehran. And apparently, Al Qaida does as well. The hypocrisy of it is astounding. Al Qaida got in bed with the near enemy in order to strike at the "not so near" enemy.

One has to wonder if Dolly will still pray to her statue of bin Laden after finding out he takes orders from Iran.

What's really disturbing is the possibility that attacks on Iranian pilgrims might have been approved by Khamenei himself. That's mind boggling.

That's simply conspiracy theory tales courtesy of the Americans, who tend to believe anything they're fed.

I don't believe it, the same as I didn't believe the Saddam-bin Laden tales. The ideological clash is simply too great to swallow.

On the other hand, it isn't at all surprising to see the true believers like Maury, ch et al gasping credulously on cue.

In other news, Karl Marx and Adam Smith were seen having a drink together at the Last Chance Saloon. Musical accompaniment by Elvis.

Bruno, lay off the crack pipe long enough to read the news. The US didn't spread those tales. It was leaked by Assbanger over at Wikileakia.

Maury is actually pretty decent compared to the airhead C.H.

Where does the text substantiate AQ-Iran collab? Nowhere really. Weekly Standard is a neocon publication involved with the criminal Bill Kristol

Dolly,
Why is Bill Kristol a "criminal"?

Was this publication deemed “criminal” by the “scholars”? LOL.

It's in the State Dept. cable Dolly.

"Nayif complained that over the past two years Iran has hosted Saudis (all Sunnis) -- including Osama bin Laden's son Ibrahim -- who had contacts with terrorists and worked against the Kingdom."

Granted, that's not video evidence of collusion between Iran and Al Qaida, but still....

It's also possible the Saudis are lying.

NSSG,

The IRI probably offed the scientists because they were no longer useful, just like they did with Mohammadi at the beginning of the year. If Israel wanted to covertly assassinate Iranian leaders, why wouldn't they just take out Ahmadinejad when he was walking along the Lebanese border?

BTW, do you think that unleashing military rejects on motorbikes (The Basij) and having them rape women and beat unarmed college students is terrorism?

Death to Khamenei...death to Ahmadinejad. FREE IRAN.

Maury,

Why is it surprising that Khamenei would order attacks on Iranian pilgrims? He declared war against most of his country's population last year.

Or maybe the Iranian government has no control over Al Qaeda in Iran. Kinda like Saddam had no control over Zarqawi in Iraq before 2003.

I wonder if they call themselves "Al Qaeda in Persia" or "Al Qaeda in al Fars".

'Iran's intelligence minister says the country has made a number of arrests following attacks on two prominent nuclear scientists in Tehran on Monday.

One scientist was killed and another left seriously injured.

Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said a number of people were identified and arrested in connection with what he called the two terrorist attacks.

Mr Moslehi did not identify the suspects, nor did he say how many people had been arrested.

But he did repeat Iran's claim that the intelligence services of the US, Britain, and Israel were responsible for the attacks.

The two scientists, Majid Shahriari and Fereydoon Abbasi, were targeted separately as each drove to work on Monday morning.

Reports said motorcyclists drove alongside the scientists' cars, attached magnetised bombs to the side of the vehicles, and then drove away.

The bombs exploded, killing Dr Shahriari and seriously injuring Dr Abbasi.

The attacks and subsequent arrests come just a few days before Iran is due to restart talks on its nuclear programme with the permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany.'

"What would be the purpose of an Iranian branch of Al Qaeda ordering attacks on Iranian pilgrims in Iraq? I still believe that Sunni Arab militants are responsible for the attacks on Iranian pilgrims."

Did you read the leak? Bin Ladens' son has 100 or so Saudi's working for him in Iran. All Sunni Arabs. Iran wants to undermine governments in the region. Al Qaida is a useful tool in that regard. Pakistan supports the Taliban for the same reason.

"Al Qaida is a useful tool in that regard. "

A dangerous tool for them to use. It could turn around and bite them.

And what is wrong with saying "Free Tibet" and "Free Iran" and those other messages?

Well usually when something is Trendy, then it's a sign of airheadery. You know that Sacha Baron Cohen quote: "I'm really into issues."
That is C.H.'s life motto.↑

Btw this AQ/Iran thing sounds bogus. It's another Mushroom_Cloud-gate.
