It's good to be a liberal
In the last decade I have found myself at odds with some "liberals" (Arabs who are outraged by the murder of Iraqis only when Americans commit the murder, for example) but in the end I am a proud liberal. In American history, liberals have moved America forward, made America a better country. It's good to be a liberal!

16 bombings in 13 Baghdad neighborhoods kill 69 civilians
"A string of explosions ripped through the Iraqi capital on Thursday, killing at least 60 people and injuring nearly 200 just days after the last U.S. troops left the country, police and health officials said.
The attacks came in the midst of a political standoff between the country’s main Shiite and Sunni Muslim factions, heightening fears of a return to the sectarian bloodletting that devastated the country a few years ago.
...There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But the seemingly coordinated attacks bore the hallmarks of Sunni insurgents linked to Al Qaeda, who regularly target Shiites and have previously sought to capitalize on political tension to ignite sectarian strife."
12 of the 13 areas bombed are Shia neighborhoods. One of my co-workers is an Iranian American who hates the mullahs. He's convinced Iran had something to do with the bombings. I hate the mullahs too, but it doesn't make sense to me that Iran would bomb Shia neighborhoods in Iraq. My co-worker said that Iran wants to control Iraq. By bombing Iraqi Shia? I don't get it. It is interesting that my Iranian American co-worker is a Republican.

What Obama actually said
Republican candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney do what they are good at: quoting Obama out of context. Apparently they are getting away with it. They know how to spread a lie.
Thankfully we have Lawrence O'Donnell to explain it:

Ayn Rand hated altruism
A very clever video that shows what Republicans are all about:
Paul Ryan says Ayn Rand did a "fantastic job" of explaining the "morality" of capitalism. What morality is that schmuck talking about? Ayn Rand was a selfish individualist who hated altruism and socialism. She did not believe in love for our fellow human. And these Republicans who love Ayn Rand call themselves Christians! Either these Republicans do not understand Ayn Rand's philosophy or they do not understand Christianity. Perhaps it is both.

Some Republicans are smart
Some Republicans learned from their mistakes:
"Republicans favor tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, but these had no stimulative effect during the George W. Bush administration and there is no reason to believe that more of them will have any today."
--Bruce Bartlett, who held senior policy roles in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations

Barack Obama is not a Marxist!
If Obama is a Marxist, then Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and Dwight Eisenhower were even more Marxist than Obama!

Why would you get a gun?
"To prepare for tough times" says Glenn Beck, as he points to a photo of President Obama. That really is some serious psycho talk, as Ed Schultz noted on his show tonight:
I don't take this man seriously. He is like Sarah Palin: irrelevant, but still fun to laugh at.

Obama's position on Israel closer to Netanyahu's
than is perceived by conservative Americans?
The more I realize that the US and Israel want a Palestinian state to look like this, the more I want to see a one state solution. Go ahead Israel, annex the West Bank and give the Palestinians living there the right to vote. Make them Israeli citizens, please.
PS: I remember Obama saying that a Palestinian state should be contiguous. This does not look contiguous to me.

Birther madness in conservative America
Donald Trump is tapping into it. He says it's a huge issue for Republicans, and apparently he's right. Now they want to see Obama's "long form" birth certificate. Was Bush forced to show his long form birth certificate? It seems many Americans just don't like having an African American man (even if he's half African American) who fights for the poor as President. They question his legitimacy, maybe because his biological father was Kenyan.

Huckabee attended a religious madrasa
'In a radio interview today, Mike Huckabee claimed that President Obama "has a different worldview and I think it is, in part, molded out of a very different experience. Most of us grew up going to Boy Scout meetings and, you know, our communities were filled with Rotary Clubs, not madrassas. And I just do think that there is - again, I am not saying he's not a citizen, I've never said that, I've said the opposite. I've never said he's a Muslim." '
A reminder: the Arabic word "madrasa" means school. I know that Huckabee is referring to the religious madrasas that have been funded by US ally Saudi Arabia, and unfortunately the word "madrasa" has become synonymous with those Wahhabi-influenced schools. But it's interesting that Huckabee himself graduated from a religious school, a Christian "madrasa" in Arkansas: "He graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University, completing his bachelor's degree in Religion in 2½ years before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas."

Huckabee says Obama grew up in Kenya
This is hilarious, you gotta see this. Mike Huckabee says Obama grew up in Kenya. Huckabee is cuckoo for cocoa puffs, much more than Sarah Palin or even Michelle Bachman.

Ann Coulter's America
Watch in this clip Ann Coulter joke (I think it's a joke) at this year's CPAC that there should be more jailed journalists, and hear how the Republican-infested audience laughs in response. Ann Coulter is a dick.

Germany has world's oldest universal healthcare system
"Germany has the world's oldest universal health care system, with origins dating back to Otto von Bismarck's social legislation, which included the Health Insurance Bill of 1883, Accident Insurance Bill of 1884, and Old Age and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889."
Next time a Republican says that universal healthcare will ruin the economy, tell him or her:
"Germany is the largest national economy in Europe, the fourth-largest by nominal GDP in the world, and fifth by GDP (PPP) in 2008. Since the age of industrialisation, the country has been a driver, innovator, and beneficiary of an ever more globalised economy. Germany is the world's second largest exporter with $1.120 trillion exported in 2009 (Eurozone countries are included). Exports account for more than one-third of national output."

Do American conservatives support democracy in Egypt?
Are Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck truly conservatives? Should we assume they represent conservative Americans? Traditional conservatives like William F. Buckley might be embarrassed to be associated with Limbaugh and Beck.

Iowan Republicans think Obama is a Muslim
Because he's reached out to Muslims. OMG!
Lawrence O'Donnel interviews Steve King, the Iowan Republican Congressman who said a few weeks ago that the Republican leadership has established their "mendacity" for years in the Congress. LOL!
