There are murderous racists in America

Well Iraq is not the only country where a bigot can get away with murder. The story of a young black teenager murdered by a racist "neighborhood watch" schmuck with a gun has energized American media. Weeks after I read about the story on Gawker and Raw Story, the murderer has not been arrested. Today the story caught fire in mainstream media (except for FOX News).

In Florida, if you are a man with some authority, you can kill a man or a kid, claim self defense, and the government will look the other way, just like in Iraq! But ordinary and extraordinary Floridians are PISSED and they're doing something about it. I've been perusing some of the comments for the petition to arrest the murderer. One woman (an MD) wrote: "I can't wait for the FBI to get involved since the State of Florida is dragging its racist heels!"

Visit for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

After the White House initially said it's a local matter, the US Dept of Justice and the FBI announced they would launch their own investigations.

This type of murder, the type that comes from racism, has happened a lot in America's history, but in 2012? OMG it's embarrassing. Americans should be better than this.

I don't agree that this is true unless the person someone kills enters your home. What is your source that Florida is that bad?

Agree with you that America has many racists. They come from every part of the American political spectrum. They come a little more strongly on the hard left than they do from other places.

The kind of things that leftists say about people who happen to be Jews [not Israelis but Jews] is shocking. And it is not just about Jews, but about any ethnic group or minority or immigrant or foreign country that has the gall to work hard and be successful.

America has only 18% of global income. A ratio that is falling. America has a much smaller share of global wealth than global income because Americans love to borrow extraordinary amounts of money from foreigners. America's share of global wealth is falling much faster than its share of global income.

Much of the wealth Americans do own is increasingly owned by immigrants, minorities and ethnics.

The share of "American corporations" and "American businesses" that are owned by American citizens that are not immigrants, minorities and ethnics is dropping fast.

As a result when leftists blast "corporations" and "rich people" they are de facto speaking in code and leading a populist nativist charge against foreigners, ethnics, minorities and immigrants. They are blaming "THEM" for America's problems.

Mojo, have you ever mentioned to leftists about the amazing success in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Brazil, Chile and other free market pro business countries that use to be very poor? Have you noticed how angry they get, and how quickly they lash out?

They don't like Asian Americans very much because they study too hard and make too much money.

"The 2005 Florida law permits anyone, anywhere, to use deadly force against another person if they believe their safety or life is in danger; and it's the state's usually futile task to prove the act wasn't justified. Little wonder the St. Petersburg Times found that five years after the law was signed by then Governor Jeb Bush — who called it a "good, commonsense anti-crime" bill — claims of justifiable homicides in Florida more than tripled, from just over 30 to more than 100 in 2010. In that time, the Stand-Your-Ground defense was used in 93 cases involving 65 deaths — and in the majority of those cases, it worked."

'Common-law tradition otherwise requires citizens to dutifully retreat from perilous situations, as a 911 dispatcher told Zimmerman to do on Feb. 26. But Zimmerman apparently felt emboldened to pursue Martin anyway — which simply points up Stand-Your-Guard's potential for turning Americans into a frightening society of vigilantes. Or worse, hotheads with carte blanche: one of the most notorious cases, in 2006, involved a man protected from prosecution by Stand-Your-Ground after shooting his neighbor during an argument over loud music and garbage collection.

That's especially true in a state like Florida, where it's particularly easy even for a guy like Zimmerman — who was arrested in 2005 for battery on a police officer (his case was moved to pre-trial diversion and the charges dropped) — to get a concealed weapon permit. "The major problem with Stand-Your-Ground is that it exists in tandem with state laws that allow so many loaded guns to be carried around in public," says Daniel Vice, senior attorney at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence in Washington, D.C. A Florida law enacted last year also lets people take guns to public beaches and city halls.

Even if Florida didn't have some of the country's most lenient gun laws, Stand-Your-Ground would still be Paleolithic legislation because, as Ladd Everitt, spokesman for the Washington-based Coalition to Stop Gun Violence puts it, "It gives us all the right to use lethal force like guns even during fist fights." Which is why police chiefs in Florida metropolises like Miami and St. Petersburg, and law enforcement groups like the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association and the National District Attorneys Association — whose then president said the law "gives citizens more rights to use deadly force than we give police officers, and with less review" — decried Stand-Your-Ground when it hit the books seven years ago.'

Really? Is that what you heard on FOX News?

'If you want to kill someone and get away with it, do it in Florida, where the self-defense laws don't require you to retreat before using deadly force. Do it in Florida, where a former sheriff's deputy "pumped several shots into an unarmed homeless man" in a Haagen-Dazs just a few weeks ago; where prosecutors have routinely declined to even bring charges in shooting cases.

Even better, do it in Sanford.

Do it in Sanford, Fla., and there's a good chance the lead investigative officer will be the same guy who didn't arrest a lieutenant's son who'd been videotaped attacking a black homeless man. Do it in Sanford, where seven years ago two security guards — one a cop's son — shot and killed another black teenager whom they claimed was trying to run them down after dropping his friends off at an apartment complex.

Do it in a town where the police chief will say without any trace of irony that his "investigation is color blind and based on the facts and circumstances, not color," and that he "can say that until I am blue in the face, but, as a white man in a uniform, I know it doesn't mean anything to anybody." Kill someone under the jurisdiction of a police chief who'd say that both you and your victim would "probably do things differently" if you both relived that night.

If you want to kill someone and get away with it, do it in a country where two of the three major news networks will barely cover your crime, and where it takes three weeks to become a national story. Do it in a country where the only possibility that you might get prosecuted is when the federal government steps in.

If you want to kill someone and get away with it, declare yourself the protector of your neighborhood. Drive around looking for black kids. Carry a gun. Do it during the All-Star game.

The murder rate in America has dropped sharply over the last 30 years. Why aren't you outraged by black on black crime Mojo? Is outrage only applicable when a white person kills a minority? Or how about the murder of blacks in Detroit at a gas station where the Arab clerk got away with murder an African American who told the clerk not to look at his daughter in a sexual way? Is that hate for you mojo?

You sound like the hypocrite Wahabbis who didn't care about Shiite and Christian blood being shed in Iraq.

Kalvin Porter was the name of the person beaten to death by two Arabs in Detroit at a gas station. He was a father of 5. It lead to a "Buy Black" campaign by the Detroit NAACP to avoid Arab owned stations.

By your snarky comment, Mojo, I could say

"If you want to kill someone and get away with it, declare yourself the protector of your gas station. Wait for a black man and his daughter to harass. Use a tire iron and kily the black man in front of his 12 year old daughter."

The white man who killed James Byrd in Texas by horrible lynching they were executed.

Are you upset those ARabs were let off in that killing of Kalvin Porter?

Not all black men who kill black men are prosecuted.

I have to look at the whole case. If the use of force wasn't justified, the person should be prosecuted.

Did the Arab killer get away with that crime? I hope not.

'Trayvon Martin was killed for the crime of being black, young and “suspicious.” Like many other young black boys and grown men throughout United States history, he was shot dead for the crime of possessing an innocuous object (and likely daring to be insufficiently compliant to someone who imagined that they had the state’s permission to kill people of color without consequence or condemnation).'

Yes, they were let off. It is sad. I have to study this case you mentioned, but the crying of racism off the bat is disingenuous.

Any comment on another case? Want me to form a narrative that Arabs in the Detroit area get away with murder?

Iraqi Mojo said...

I just googled "Kalvin Porter Detroit" and read a couple of articles. It's very sad that an Arab got away with murder! Indeed, there are racists among Arabs too.

Should I blog about Kalvin Porter instead of Trayvon Martin?

Iraqi Mojo said...

Yes please tell me more about racist murderous Arabs. I did not know Arabs get away with murder too in the US! Should I blog about racist murderous Arabs and ignore this crime in Florida?

All life is precious. I take umbrage to the fact that you think people (white specifically) get away with killing black people. It trivializes the death of this young man. A murder is a murder and should be dealt with accordingly. I need to see the facts in every case. When you inferred that whites don't get prosecuted for killing blacks by saying "blacks get prosecuted for killing blacks." you create a false narrative.

I pointed this Porter case out which is only one amongst many in Detroit. Why don't you ask local blacks in Detroit how they are treated by Arab shop owners?

Anonymous said...

Arabs don't get away with murder anymore than anybody else. The justice system is not perfect. But since you focus your faux outrage on a white killing a black, I thought I would point that out.

Looks like the perpetrator is hispanic. If he is guilty of murder, he deserves to be put away for life regardless of his race. Thanks for bringing this to my attention mojo.

Iraqi Mojo said...

In America there is a long history of white men killing black men and walking free.

The murderer in this case appears to be Hispanic, I don't know. But I do know this: the murderer is still free, and yes I am outraged by it and by Florida's refusal to arrest the murderer.

If the murderer was black and the victim was white, the murderer would have been arrested immediately and charged with first degree murder the next day.

Iraqi Mojo said...

These are assumptions on your part. Does it happen? Yes it does. Does it happen 100 percent of the time or most of the time like you portray? No it doesn't.

Or I can say in the case of Detroit if the murderer was Arab and the victim was black they would get away with it.

Statement of Robert Zimmerman, father of Neighborhood Watch volunteer:

“The tragic events of February 26 are very sad for all concerned. The Martin family, our family, and the entire community have been forever changed.

The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting are false and extremely misleading. Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas.

George is a Spanish speaking minority with many black family members and friends. He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever. One black neighbor recently interviewed said she knew everything in the media was untrue and that she would trust George with her life. Another black neighbor said that George was the only one, black or white, who came and welcomed her to the community, offering any assistance he could provide. Recently, I met two black children George invited to a social event. I asked where they met George. They responded that he was their mentor. They said George visited them routinely, took them places, helped them, and taught them things and that they really loved George. The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth.

The events of February 26 reported in the media are also totally inaccurate. Out of respect for the on-going investigation, I will not discuss specifics. However, the media reports of the events are imaginary at best. At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin. When the true details of the event become public, and I hope that will be soon, everyone should be outraged by the treatment of George Zimmerman in the media.

Our entire family is deeply sorry for the loss of Trayvon. We pray for the Martin family daily. We also pray that the community will grieve together and not be divided by more unwarranted hate.

The Zimmerman family will have no further contact with the media prior to the resolution of the investigation. It would be greatly appreciated if the media would respect our privacy.”

that is a statement from the suspect's father. Looks like you are accusing Zimmerman of being racist without any proof. You assume someone is racist just because the person is of a different race. Looks like you are taking all of the media claims at face value.

Iraqi Mojo said...

Maybe race had nothing to do with it. Even if race had nothing to do with it, I am shocked that 3 weeks after the murder, George Zimmerman is still walking free.

Anonymous said...

So you are assuming he is guilty before innocent? Should I infer from that that you think that alleged hispanic on black murders are guilty until proven innocent? How about you wait for all of the facts to come to light before crying racism. It is such a cheap way to argue. You are ready to convict a man before his day in court by evidenced "he is still walking free." Such a shame Mojo.

I just read Think Progress's entire article, and it did mention that FOX News did one segment on the story. Musta been the first article you linked to. The headline is misleading, I admit, and I should not have repeated their claim.

But if it's true that as of the 19th, CNN did 41 segments on the story and MSNBC did 13, I'd say FOX News barely covered the story. FOX News just did not cover it like other media did.

To be fair, I'd say MSNBC and CNN did not cover it like Gawker and Raw Story did. Gawker and Raw Story were better than all the mainstream media because they covered it early. Better late than never, I guess.

Why is this story any more important than the Detroit gas station clerk who recently killed a Detroit man over a pack of condoms? I am not going to say the races of these men, but what reason do I have to claim that the killer's motive was racist? Don't you think screaming racism muddles the discourse? Lets let the facts play out in every case before jumping to conclusions. This whole situation is tragic because someone lost a life. The races of the parties involved are irrelevant.

did you read that the law enforcement in florida doesn't liek this law you would have to compare the victims of justifiable homicide by race over the last 6 years to cry racism and see how many of the people using that law under the guise of self defense in order to make your case.

Gawker: 'Last night, the U.S. Justice Department announced that it would investigate the death of Trayvon Martin, after watching outrage build as Florida authorities appeared to do nothing for 23 days. The 17-year-old Martin was walking through a residential development in Sanford, Fla. and was chased down and shot by a 28-year-old man named George Zimmerman. If this sounds painfully familiar, it should.

Zimmerman had called 911, describing Martin as "a real suspicious guy" who "looks like he's... on drugs or something." Martin was walking home from a 7-11 carrying a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea. From where he spotted Martin, Zimmerman could determine nothing more than that the teen was guilty of Walking While Black. Zimmerman then said, "These assholes always get away," and chased after Martin, despite the 911 operator's insistence that "we don't need you to do that." On multiple neighbors' calls to 911, Martin can be heard screaming for help. Zimmerman is still not in jail.

Our own Max Read has a good summary of the details of the killing you should read. All of them are disgusting, but what's most depressing is how unsurprising so much of it is.

This could have happened anywhere. Like so many other parts of Florida, Sanford is a little place with a little character ringed with the overwhelmingly white suburban crudscape of gated developments named after the beautiful things that were bulldozed to make them—places where local police and Golf Cops automatically view any black person not behind the wheel of a Honda Odyssey as criminally suspicious. Trayvon could have been shot dead in Hillsborough, Duval, Escambia, or Broward County, too.

Then there's local law enforcement's casual indifference to violence against a black person and even the appearance of aiding to legitimize it. And of course you have state law enforcement murmuring about intervention in a case of violence against a black person only after weeks of building outrage—perhaps because they were too busy fiddling with laws that keep those sorts of folk from votin'.

It could be racially motivated but the explicit evidence from blacks who knew zimmerman contradicts your claim and you should retract it. Should I make accusations that Arabs in Detroit are racist towards blacks based on those cases I gave you?

Why this stupid dichotomy of liberal/conservative when i am neither? Can't you be more nuanced than that?

Iraqi Mojo said...

The hard academic left is racist?

Do you believe Noam Chomsky is part of the hard academic left? Who is the hard academic left?

anan said...

Many of them are. Have you heard them talk among themselves?

One example would be Dahr Jamail. Remember how much he hated the 650,000 Iraqi Security Forces and the elected legitimate government of Iraq? He was furious that Iraqi voters didn't vote for the candidates that he supported.

As a result he called for violent attacks against Iraq's elected leaders and the ISF. Dahr knew all about the ISF. He celebrated the 18 K ISF killed by the people Dahr backed.

There are places where Dahr writes that the "resistance" that he backed was killing ten times as many "puppets" as MNF-I.

The only possible explanation for Dahr's rants was that he was an anti Iraqi, anti Kurd and anti Shiite racist. Many of his fellow travelers on the hard academic left were.

Do you remember the hatred many on the left had for muslim ethnic Albanian in 1999. Remember the nasty things they said about them?

At least in the case of Russians and Greeks, the explanation was solidarity with their orthodox Christian Serbian friends. However, that wasn't the motivation of the hard left. Many on the left were motivated by racism and hatred of ethnic Albanian muslims.

Another example would be the 1962 invasion of free democratic India by totalitarian communist dictatorship China. The global left backed China against India. What other explanation for that was there than racism?

Another example was the way the global left backed Hitler August 1939 until June 1941, because Hitler had signed a non aggression pact with Stalin. They did this despite knowing about Hitler's crimes against humanity and genocide.

Other examples include the irrational hatred and racism against South Korea and China. [Probably because many leftists back North Korea against them.]

In general the hard left supports harsh sanctions against every country on earth. They support big government borderline communist policies that greatly hurt the global poor. Their policy is to keep the poor people down all over the world. Wherever leftist policies have been practiced, they have left a trail of poverty and disaster.

This is the left, not liberals. I have a lot of respect for the generally free market liberals who run Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, France and Germany. In many ways they are more free market and pro business than America.

Iraqi Mojo said...

No I have not heard leftists talk among themselves.

anan, you are assuming Dahr Jamail is an academic leftist. I thought he was just an American of Lebanese descent who became enraged after the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Yes he took sides (most Sunni Arabs did) and I've called him a hypocrite because when Saddam's regime was mass murdering Iraqis he was hiking the mountains of Alaska. But he's a leftist and a racist? I'm not sure about that. More than anything he seems to be an opportunist; he wanted to make money writing books.

Also I think you are jumping to conclusions by labeling communists as racist. I'll come back to this later. Must get to work.

After looking at the evidence. This Zimmerman guy should have been detained at the very least. I have read that he was close to the police and I think it is more an incident of the police taking care of one of their buddies rather than racist motivation. He needs to be charged with 1st degree murder. This wasn't self defense.

Mojo there are definitely racists on the left and right. No side has a monoply on the moral high ground or bigotry.

Anonymous, I don't know the details of this case. There are many charges under than murder in the first degree that could be applicable:

-2nd degree murder
-voluntary manslaughter
-involuntary manslaughter
-reckless homicide

All of these charges can be applicable in unlawful killings.

I agree with you, however, that we should be careful to allege racism without clear evidence. There could be a lot of other motivations.

Mojo, many "communists" are racist.

Racism is a challenge in all countries and in every part of the political spectrum. It is only a "little" more intense on the hard left than every where else.

Would you agree that many hard leftists are sectarian against anyone who isn't atheist or agnostic? Many leftists treat religious people with condescension; treating them as if they are psychotic, stupid, superstitious, and irrational.

They also say nasty things about free market pro business developing countries that are growing rapidly.

Iraqi Mojo said...

People who have been paying attention have enough details to know that George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin, should have been arrested and kept in jail. Like anan said, they could have charged him with manslaughter. More than three weeks after the murder, the murderer is free AND the murderer is allowed to carry a gun.

Iraqi Mojo said...

'Mojo, many "communists" are racist.'

Sure, many people are racists. I don't see how you see more racists coming from the academic left, even if slightly more. I "little" more intense you say? How are you measuring this parameter? The global left supported Hitler? If the global left include communists, your allegation does not make sense because communists fought Hitler in WWII. Who comprises the global left?

Yes there are leftists who appear to be condescending to religious people. So then do you consider Bill Maher to be a leftist? Is he condescending to religious folks?

There are flaws in the free market. Sometimes regulation is a good idea, I believe. Does this make me a leftist?

anan said...

I haven't been following Zimmerman and can't say what they should have done. However, detaining him on the accusation of manslaughter pending his trial is an idea worth exploring.

The actual trial can try him for all possible charges and let the jury decide.

Mojo, I like Bill Maher, so I give him a pass. :-) Maher is the opposite of a leftist by the way. He trends towards libertarian free market pro business. I love his irreverence.

The global left and communists backed Adolf Hitler between August 1939 and June, 1941. Tariq Aziz and his family were among them. As soon as Hitler attacked Stalin, Tariq's family signed up to join the British Indian army to fight the Nazis.

Mojo, you are not even close to being a leftist. Maybe a liberal, but that is extremely different from being a leftist.

I think the world can learn a lot from how Malaysia runs itself. Yet if you were too try to say this in front of leftists they would blow up against you. Why? Do you think racism might be a factor?

You can see the second comment on this thread explaining why many leftists are racist.

You saw for yourself the way many leftists use to insult Kurdish and Shiite Iraqis. They also use to insult the Iraqi Army, which had many patriotic Iraqi Sunni Arabs [Iraqi Sunni Arabs were over represented in the Iraqi Army that the left hated]. Would you agree that their motivation for that was racism?

Many leftists are deeply jealous people. They can't stand the amazing success of many formerly very poor countries, such as Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Chile, Brazil, Turkey, India, China. They can't stand that so many global poor have embraced free market pro business capitalism and are working their way out of poverty.

Would you disagree that many leftists are filled with jealous racist hate?

Could part of the abject uncontrollable hatred many leftists had for the Iraqi army have been because they were jealous that the Iraqi Army was better than the sectarian militias the left were backing? Was this part of the motivation for many leftists calling the Iraqi Army death squads, and making up all sorts of false and exaggerated claims against the Iraqi Army?

Many leftists think they are superior to everyone else and know what is better for everyone else. They are willing to make billions of people suffer to take down their enemies.

Their deepest racism is their bigotry of low expectations. They tell people that they can't achieve anything they want. They try to destroy people's self confidence and spirit so that they will give up.

By contrast, even many racists on the right believe anyone can achieve anything. Many conservative racists genuinely believe that some dirt poor Bangladeshi or Vietnamese villager can be the next Steve Jobs. And in this at least, they are completely right.

Do you disagree with any of the above?

Racism is an ugly thing. But, the only way to make things better is if we each do our own part. We do that by changing attitudes among family, friends, and acquaintances. Not by wagging fingers, but by quietly showing that those old attitudes need to be tossed. I doubt that news articles, editorials, or all the ranting in the world, can change what someone believes inside. A patient word here and there will probably accomplish a whole lot more in the long run.

"a racist "neighborhood watch""

Wow Mojo you could not have been more wrong about that. I suspect you'll be issuing a retraction or an apology soon, right?

Iraqi Mojo said...

Apologize for what and to whom?

madtom said...

for calling that guy and the whole state of Florida "racist"
what proof do you have of that?

Iraqi Mojo said...

You want me to apologize to the guy who killed an unarmed teenager? Really? You really are mad, madtom!

Iraqi Mojo said...

I did not call the whole state of Florida racist. I wrote "ordinary and extraordinary Floridians are PISSED and they're doing something about it." I quoted a Florida doctor who wrote "I can't wait for the FBI to get involved since the State of Florida is dragging its racist heels!"

According to the good Floridian doctor, Florida has racist heels.

madtom said...

Your calling the guy a racist, the shooting might have been wrong and unfortunate, but I ask again what proof do you have that he's a "racist". You know starting a race war might leave more dead people across Florida and the nation than just one kid. You don't think that you should have some proof, some evidence, something before you brand some guy from Guatemala a racist?

Something must have set you off?

"ordinary and extraordinary Floridians"

Is that the new code word for political activist.

Do you know why we have "stand your ground" law here in Florida? Have any idea about the history that brought about the change. Are you anti gun?

madtom said...

I guess I know now what happened, you took the bait. I read the links you posted, "black teen", "white community", they baited the hook with race and you took it hook, line, and sinker!

madtom said...

Do you think the Attorney General is a racist?

madtom said...

Now, are you going to apologize after the picture of Zimmermenr with his head all bloodied have come out?

Or just pretend no one saw it?

Iraqi Mojo said...

I apologize for assuming Zimmerman is racist. I should not have jumped to conclusions.

We still don't know all the facts of this case. Perhaps it was Trayvon Martin who was standing his ground and perhaps it was George Zimmerman who was the aggressor. I think a charge of manslaughter is more appropriate.

At least he was finally arrested and charged with something.

madtom said...

From me and the other 11 million residents of Florida, I accept.

And also agree, that all the facts are not out yet, wait and see....We here in Florida have been dealing with rouge prosecutors for a long time, welcomed the SYG law, and are hoping this one incident, and a bunch of loud activist will not take away the progress we have so far achieved.

George Zimmerman: Prelude to a shooting

MoJo, you should post this article, so as not to make your original post, an act of fraud on your readers

APK said...

Similar situation in Phoenix with the shooter being a black male and the person who died a mentally disabled "white hispanic." Shooter not arrested on the basis of the Arizona stand your ground law. Of course it doesn't get much media attention because it doesn't fit the narrative of racism. I am ashamed of how people rushed to rash judgments in the Zimmerman case. Maybe just maybe the police did their jobs and Zimmerman did not break a law that is why he was not arrested.

Iraqi Mojo said...

Sounds like a few poor downtrodden white men are feeling all butt hurt.

“Just because we don’t book a person immediately does not mean we don’t charge a person at a later date.”

If the shooter in the Phoenix case is not arrested within a week, I will join the poor downtrodden white man in protest.

APK said...

Why the need to bring up race mojo when you don't even know where I was born, mojo? I was born in Zahle, Lebanon. Why be insulting? Both situations are tragic. I don't want the alleged shooters judged in either case before all of the facts come out. I was comparing 2 similar situations.

Iraqi Mojo said...

It seems that Arizona and Florida have something in common: bad laws that allow schmucks to get away with murder.

I am ready to join your protest, APK!

APK said...

Bill Cosby was right when he said this was not about race, but the debate should be about guns.

madtom said...

California has the same wording in it's law.

madtom said...

Oh, and in Arizona it was signed into law by no other than Janet Napolitano herself. I guess that makes her a racist too.

You have to wonder if she gets along at all with the Attorney General?

Iraqi Mojo said...

Signing that into law does not make Janet Napolitano a racist. It makes her stupid. Cowboy stupid, which in Arizona is normal.

APK said...

Jennifer Granholm of CurrentTV signed a similar piece of legislation into law while she was governor of Michigan in 2006.

If Zimmerman and the person in Arizona were acting in self defense they didn't break any laws.

madtom said...

"Janet Napolitano... "stupid.""

We can agree on something

100 blacks beat white couple, media bury attack

You should feel proud, it's working.

Iraqi Mojo said...

Media bury attack? Really? The nutty right wing World Net Daily?

Feel proud of what, madtom? What's working?

madtom, are you butt hurt?

madtom said...

It's working the race wars your cooperating in..before you know it these small incident might turn in to all out riots. Success!!

madtom said...

By the way Mojo, you've been gone for a few days? Hope everything is good, family and friends..

Iraqi Mojo said...

So the Trayvon Martin case is an example of a race war? And I'm participating in it because I was shocked to see George Zimmerman walk free without being charged? That's quite a stretch, madtom.

Iraqi Mojo said...

Yes I have been very busy with work and social life. The economy is improving! Do you feel it in Florida?

Iraqi Mojo said...

Video: Woman facing prison time after using ‘Stand Your Ground’ defense

'Video on 31-year-old Marissa Alexander is facing 20 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault. She fired a warning shot into the ceiling of her home after her husband threatened her. A judge rejected her “Stand Your Ground” defense, saying Alexander could have fled the home. Critics of the case are asking if the law is applied fairly.'

Seems the judicial system in Florida is quite full of stupid fvcks!

madtom said...

"Seems the judicial system in Florida is quite full of stupid fvcks!"

You see now why we need the SYG laws. The only thing I see wrong is that she should have aimed mid center, not up in the air where the bullet can come down on some innocent.

"That's quite a stretch'

Is it?
Should I quote you back the tile of this post, which you posted with noting else than the fact that the shooting happened in a gated community in central Florida, and you own dislike of SYG laws?

The economy here is sliding backwards, it had improved a little a few months ago, but now it is back to a standstill

madtom said...

House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida.
The amendment, which would withhold some grants from states that have such laws, will come as part of the House's debate on the Commerce Department spending bill.

The crazies are out in force, lock your doors

Hi Mojo,

Thanks for posting that story about a wife in Florida getting 20 years for firing a warning shot at her abusive husband. It certainly seems to be case of double standards.
