2010: Lowest civilian death toll since 2003

"Fewer Iraqi civilians have been killed in violence in 2010 than during any other year since the American-led invasion of 2003, according to a Web site that monitors reports of such deaths.

The Web site, Iraq Body Count, said 3,976 civilians died during violence as of Dec. 23, compared with 4,680 such deaths in all of 2009."

Good to read. May 2011 be much better.

Would you believe California topped that number in the early 90's? I'm not downplaying the deaths. Just pointing out that a US state with a similar population had the same murder count not so long ago. Media perceptions of Iraq are of a country where people live in constant fear and danger. I lived in California when murders topped 4000 in a year, and I don't remember being fearful of venturing anywhere.

I'm sure I would feel safe. Other westerners travel to Iraq, and seem to enjoy themselves.

"But those I spoke to all agreed it was worth it - for the places they managed to visit, and for the generous welcoming people they met wherever they went.

And none of the group seemed very concerned about security."

New Orleans had 3X as many murders as Iraq in 2010 on a per capita basis, and I don't feel the least bit unsafe.

It's quite sick how they erected those concrete barriers in Iraq.

We are expected to believe that those walls mean Liberty.

And now my Christmas Card for mojo:
I hope 2011 is worse for your country. If not, then 2012.

We are going to try to up the ante.
Actually 2010 was not as good as it's being presented here, because there has been an increase in the so-called security forces deaths a.k.a. traitors
