American conservatives split on Egypt

I'm surprised anybody takes Palin seriously anymore.

Gingrich said about the Muslim Brotherhood: "Their way is jihad, their method is death." Sounds like the Saudis!

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has translated the fifth volume of The Laws of Da'wa (Islamic missionary activity) written by Mustafa Mashhur, who led the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996-2002. The translated volume, entitled Jihad is the Way, describes the ideology and goals of the Muslim Brotherhood, which includes the establishment of a world-wide caliphate (Islamic Republic) and military Jihad when the time is most opportune.

"It should be known that Jihad and preparation towards Jihad are not only for the purpose of fending-off assaults and attacks of Allah's enemies from Muslims, but are also for the purpose of realizing the great task of establishing an Islamic state and strengthening the religion and spreading it around the world..."

The Ikhuaan al-Mufliseen are actually adversaries with the Saudiz.

This is one of my fave scholars Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Uadi criticizing Qaradawi at around 4:05 minutes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZZT-HojZsQ

In general, the Saudi position is that rebellion against the ruler (or Wali al-Amr) is prohibited, so they always side with the ruler

"A more likely outcome in Egypt, say Israelis familiar with the government's forecasting, is a ruling coalition that is sensitive to domestic public opinion and has minority Muslim Brotherhood representation. Such a coalition, they say, would likely maintain the peace treaty and gas exports for now but would also be likely to adopt a more critical tone toward Israeli policies and might become less accommodating to Israeli officials, entrepreneurs and other visitors."
