The monarchies of the Gulf themselves prevent democracy. The kings don't need an alliance between themselves to prevent democracy for them. I suppose the kings are even stronger when they unite.
Read this line of BS in the Gulf Daily News: "GCC states last night expressed their full solidarity with His Majesty King Hamad and the Bahraini people."
Are the Shia of Bahrain not Bahraini people? Kings are in solidarity with fellow kings, not the people.
