Hashemi accuses Iraqi govt of bombing Shia neighborhoods

"Iraq's Vice-President Tariq al-Hashemi has said Iraq's government was behind Thursday's series of bombings that killed nearly 70 people in Baghdad."

I think many Sunni Arabs believe this. It's either Iran or the Iraqi government, or both, according to them. I don't hear as many Arabs blaming Americans for bombings that kill civilians.

That's absurd. How does instability serve the government? It runs against their objectives

it doesn't serve the government, it serves American interests in the middle east

How does it serve American interests in the middle east? America cares about oil and stable economies that create demand for oil & gas, and development deals with American companies, naturally. Terrorism hurts this interest.

I can see plausible situation in which the sectarian violence serves Israel's interest, allegedly to keep Iraqis divided, because a united Iraq would wipe out Israel. I can see how Newt Gingrich would believe this, but Obama's CIA or Pentagon? Doubtful.

Americas Foreign Policy dictates that Israel comes first no matter what the costs are. Israel's interests come before Americas interests. That's just the way the American government works, and its been that way for a very long time.

Everything else is secondary.

it doesn't fit their narrative otherwise.

A united Iraq has attacked Israel before and failed. A united Iraq should be focused on bettering itself and confronting the countries that actually threaten it, like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey.

Palestinians are always dreaming about wiping out Israel.

and why shouldn't I be dreaming about that? Palestinians have lost their livelihoods, properties, and have been murdered for over 60 years. The only way to achieve justice (take back our land) is to dismantle the state of Israe-hell and send those Europeans packing.

Mojo,It indeed serves Persias interests to bomb indiscriminately all over Iraq!Iran uses these bombings as a way to force Shi'astan or Iraq to always include the mullahs in advisories as a way of keeping Iraq ununited so they'll never threaten the (Islamic republic)again! Its getting old hearing you saying Arab Jarab or Sunni-Ba'athist this & that,The bulk of Iraqi Shi'a are disloyal traitors to their own race & religion, having said this there are some patriotic Shi'a,who were Shi'a Ba'athists, who know Irans strategy of using Shi'astan as just another province of Iran, but with a shitload of sweet oil!I myself hope Sufi Iraqis gain+strength+&+influence+in+so+called+Iraq!The+brave+mujahideen+in+Al-+Naqshabandi+army+are+very+organized+&++appear+to+have+a+large+armory+of+weapons+&+soldiers+to+fight+the+sectarian+wolfs+brigade(Badr+brigade)!Until+next+time+I+say+Hail+al-maqawama+al-sharifa!

It depends on how you "wipe out" Israel. If you kill and expel people from their homes, it would be unjust. Two wrongs do not make a right.

But they are not bombing all over Iraq. They are bombing only the Shia neighborhoods. It makes absolutely no sense.

People sometimes forget how Saddam's peeps mass murdered Shia in 1991. Sunni Arab extremists and Saddamists have a lot of experience in killing Shia and it goes back decades.

What an absurd statement. The zionists come and steal Palestinian homes and land, and if the Palestinians justifiably take back what is theirs (and it is their right according to international law), its considered another "wrong"?

Falas6eezi,

It would be wrong to kill innocent people and expel them from their homes, just as it was wrong in 1948.
