Some Arab leaders afraid of nuclear Iran

"The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday tried to control the diplomatic fallout after the country’s ambassador to Washington urged the US to use force to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Yousef al-Otaiba, an influential figure in the UAE’s government, told an audience at the Aspen Ideas Festival in the US that a nuclear-armed Iran would be a greater disaster than a military strike.

His remarks shed rare light on the hawkish attitude of some Arab states that are desperate to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. In public, the UAE and some of its neighbours try to maintain cordial relations with Tehran. Privately, however, they appear terrified of the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran dominating the region."

After Tehran gets a nuclear weapon, Baghdad will be a safer place to live. This is not hyperbolea, just a simple fact.

Iran is being 2 faced by supporting regime change in their 2 neighboring countries, but whenever the same is suggested in Iran they respond with militant outrage.

Heh, so UAE wants to be defended against Iran to the last American.

If the Arab nations are so worried about Iran, let their own armies do something about it.

Arabs are not only afraid of Iran nuclear program, Israeli nuclear arsenal is much more dangerous.

As an Arab suni, I would rather live with an Iranian nuclear program and having a neighbour like Israel sitting on 200 WMD. West must curb Israel if they want a Nuclear free M. E.
Other wise, Arab will get it sooner or later!!!

Not if Iran decides to target Baghdad.

Although the Israelis will for the forseeable future have more nuclear weapons than Iran, I think they are less dangerous. They do not make constant threats to wipe out or conquer other countries, as Iran does. The territorial ambitions of even the most extreme Israelis are limited to Biblical Israel and Judea, whereas Iran wants to rule the whole Middle East as it did at the maximum extent of the Persian Empire.

Not really. I think that eventually most countries will have the capability to produce a nuclear weapon. I can understand why the US and Israel fear Iran getting nukes, especially under the regime of Khamenei. But I don't think that Iran would risk nuking anybody. Iranians understand the meaning of mutually assured destruction.

I don't think the US will do much about it except maybe allow Israel to take out the facility, kinda like they did to Iraq's nuclear facility in 1981. How did Saddam react? I expect Iran to have the same reaction to such a strike. But eventually Iran will acquire nuclear weapons, maybe under a different regime. Iranians want to be influential in the world like Persia was hundreds of years ago. I don't think they want to nuke anybody.

I seriously doubt that.
