'Several Salafi channels in tightly controlled Saudi Arabia have appeared to seize on Syria to escalate their case against Iran and Shiites in general, analysts add. Salafis are ultraconservative Sunnis whose interpretations of Islam overlap with those of al Qaeda.
"There will be slaughter and killing in every Arab country if the Syrian revolution is extinguished," said a news anchor this month on the Saudi-based Safa channel, adding that "Shiites are worse than Jews." '

The general rule is that the closer two groups' beliefs are, the greater the hostilty.
You can see this in the constant splitting of socialist and Marxist parties into more and more mutually hostile groups.
We see no furious denunciations of Buddhists by the Salafis - they are too different.

Anonymous, Takfiri do denounce Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains a lot. They accuse them of not being "of the book" and worse than Jews who are "of the book." Have you forgotten the massacre of millions?
But their greatest anger is directed at fellow muslims who seem to be incorporating blasphemous concepts into Islam.
Part of the reason Sufis [who revere Ali above everyone else, and Fatimah as well] are so despised is because they are accused of bringing Buddhist type ideas into Islam.
My point is that traitors are seen as worse than enemies.
