Displacement

I just read this piece that Christian Sunni linked to (thanks CS!) and it reminded me of my uncle and his story. More than a year ago my uncles, who lived in Amriya (a Sunni neighborhood in west Baghdad) for many years, received letters from 'mujahideen' threatening to kill them and all other Shia if they did not leave the neighborhood. All my uncles left, mostly for Nejef. One of my uncles is married to a woman whose sister was married to a man who worked as a translator for the Americans - they decided to stay in Baghdad. Earlier this year he (the translator) took his family to the market one Friday morning, and as he got out of his car, a man approached him and shot him in the head, killing him in front of his family.
