"Ten years on from 9/11, the Arab world remains in denial. A recent Pew study shows the majorities in all Muslim states think that Arabs were not responsible for the attacks of September the 11th. Three out of four Egyptians hold that belief, for example."

Interesting. I just printed out the report. It's long, but eventually I'll get to it. :)
C.H.?
C.H.?
Are you out there?
A quick question for you. I know someone who is getting married in Mexico and is planning on taking a group in by bus. Having been there, what do you think of this idea?

Hi Lynette,
What part of Mexico is it? I have been traveling around the Baja Peninsula these past couple of months...usually by bus. I have never had a problem and have found that the services are efficient and comfortable.
I think it's in the area of Cancun. With everything that I've been reading I wondered how safe it was to drive in. I'll double check on the location, though.
Yup, south of Cancun. It looks like I was misinformed, though, on the bus. It looks like they will be flying, so there shouldn't be any problems...I hope. I just read the article about the people found on the bridge. It's starting to sound a bit like Iraq. :(
Thanks for the reply, C.H. Hope all is well with you. :)
I read about that too...the bridge incident in Nuevo Laredo. Supposedly those people were killed for blogging about drug trafficking in the area. :-/
I know what you mean about it sounding like Iraq -- in some ways, the violence in Mexico can be even worse (Ciudad Juarez was considered the most dangerous city in the world last year). The other day I was having a barbecue at my neighbor's apartment and an alert came on the TV that a casino in Monterrey had been firebombed. 52 people were killed.
If your friends are flying, they will definitely be safe in Cancun. However, I'd like to state again that I have had very positive experiences traveling on the bus system in Mexico. To my knowledge, there have not been any incidents targeting tourist or luxury buses in the country, despite the attacks in Tamaulipas on local transport.
I heard about the casino fire too. From what I read it sounds like they refused to pay protection.
That's reassuring to hear about the buses, as I know they will take one from the airport to the resort (that's where the confusion came in).
I did hear about one incident of tourists being shaken down in a restaurant. It was in a nicer place. Hopefully an isolated incident, for both the tourist's and Mexico's sake.
There also has apparently been a connection made between a drug cartel and an Iraqi exile community. Not a good thing for the Iraqis to get mixed up in. As far as I know they still deport people for criminal activity.
On September 16-17, 1982, the refugee camp of Sabra and Chatila was massacred. The world will not observe a minute of silence for the innocent victims of Sabra and Chatila, nor will there be news coverage of the survivors and the unhappy life they lead on the scene of this horrible crime. Please educate yourself about this massacre if you do not know of it because no one else will mention it.
And why is Sabra & Shatila important 30 years later. Most of what I know about Lebanon is that I listen to Najwa Karam
Mojo, are you implying that all arabs are in denial that they contributed to 9/11, or the fact that they fail to acknowledge that arabs were hired to be part of an inside job?
Arabs were hired to hijack planes and fly them into the WTC. LOL:) Yes in a way it's true. They were "hired" and their compensation was promised to be eternity in heaven. It seems some 3arab jarab are easily convinced that killing "infidels" would be rewarded by Allah.
I'm not implying - I'm saying - I'm quoting Fareed Zakaria, who quoted a poll that shows that a majority of Arabs do not believe that Arabs did 9/11. It is not a surprising finding.
Rtgcs = delusional truther troll. The cockpit recording from Flight 93 was played in the trial of Zacarias Mousawi. It revealed the presence of men speaking Arabic, saying things like "God is Great".
